Research Summary: Zack works on hybrid perovskites, an emerging class of semiconductors, examining a novel method of thin film synthesis developed by the group, metal-organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD). Zack examines the deposition process using in-situ measurements using a custom designed in-situ quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) and custom built in-situ UV-Vis extinction measurement setup. Combining in- and ex-situ measurements Zack is working to deepen our understanding of the mechanism and control of the MOCVD method.

Personal Summary: Outside of lab, Zack enjoys a variety of both board and video games with friends, and playing amateur mixologist when hosting friends. He is a long-time enthusiast of indoor rock climbing and spends his evenings split between his hobbies and wrangling his two cats
