Fernando MeloMultijunction Silicon Nanowires and NIL growth Caudill 008 (919) 843-6852 B.S. in "" M.S. in "" Florida State University, 2025 Research Summary: Fernando completed his MS degree at Florida State University, where he studied the photochemistry of organic molecules. With the Cahoon group, he now studies the application of metal-catalyzed photoreactions on silicon nanowires, such as the water splitting reaction. This is toward the goal of creating liquid-phase particle suspensions, where millions of nanowires act as independent photoreactors capable of using light to create chemical fuels. He also studies their dynamics using pump-probe microscopy techniques. Personal Summary: On his (precious) free time, Fernando tries to make progress on one of several ongoing art projects. He enjoys oil painting on canvas and 3D printing / painting cool things he finds from his favorite video games and media. He also likes working out and testing the limits of his sound bar on the nearby apartments with some inspirational tunes. |
